Each Forward Voice local chapter prepares and prints the following instruction sheet, to be given to students along with the blank Voter Registration Form.
When preparing this instruction sheet, replace all the examples highlighted yellow below with the info appropriate for your county and state. Replace the pre-registration age restriction (states' rules are listed on this webpage), and replace the election authorities' contact details.
Please feel welcome to further tweak these instructions to best describe your situation. For example, you may want to provide further details about how to return the filled Voter Registration Form (e.g. "We will have a table setup in the cafeteria at lunchtime on the first Tuesday of every month").
Forward Voice Voter (Pre-)Registration Instructions
Congratulations on taking the first step towards registering to vote.
You should have received a Voter Registration Form from your school's Forward Voice local chapter. Please complete this form and return it to your school's Forward Voice local chapter.
In New York, you must be at least 16 years old to pre-register, or at least 18 years old to register.
Once you've returned the filled form, you may then check whether you are (pre-)registered to vote by contacting the election authorities using the contact details given below. Please allow some time for your form to be submitted and processed.
