After you've emailed us to create a local chapter of Forward Voice at your own high school, here are the next steps to get started:
Review website listing
Your local chapter will be added to the list of chapters on this website. Please verify that the data in this new listing is correct.
Receive email address
You will be assigned a Forward Voice email address.
Receive stickers
We will mail you some "I registered" stickers which you give to students when they return their filled Voter Registration Forms to you.
Prep instruction sheet
Prepare your instruction sheet which you give to students. A template for this instruction sheet is on another page on this website.
Get blank forms
Get a stack of blank Voter Registration Forms to give to students. You can obtain these from your local election authority (board of elections) or from your local post office. To explain to the staff what you're doing, the term "voter registration drive" may help.
Create organization
Create a club or group at your school, to recruit a few helpers.
Define process
Decide how you'll connect with students to give out blank Voter Registration Forms and to collect filled Voter Registration Forms. Maybe you could setup a table in your common room once per month. Or maybe you could visit classrooms. It's up to you to create a process that's a good fit for your school.
Get container
Purchase a locking bag or box in which you'll store filled Voter Registration Forms until you've submitted them to the election authority. The following image is an example available on Amazon, try searching for "locking document bag". It's good if the bag/box is rated as "HIPAA compliant" which means that it's deemed secure enough to store medical documents.
